Aftergods Revealed by Norsfell as a Mythic Survivalite Action-RPG
Norsfell, the Montreal studio behind Tribes of Midgard, has officially revealed Aftergods, a new top-down survivalite action-RPG announced during the Triple-i Initiative showcase.
Built around top-down action combat, survival crafting, mythic boss battles, and co-op, Aftergods expands on the core ideas that helped make Tribes of Midgard a 5-million-unit hit. This time, Norsfell is moving beyond Norse mythology and into a larger world shaped by interconnected legends from multiple pantheons.
In Aftergods, players become the Godborn, the unsung children of the gods who unexpectedly survived Ragnarök. Their legends have not yet been written, and it will be up to players to restore the shattered Seeds of the World Tree and rebalance a collapsed cosmos.

A New Mythic World After Ragnarök
Aftergods begins in the aftermath of Ragnarök, but its world is not limited to Norse legend.
Players will explore a handcrafted open world inspired by Greek, Egyptian, Norse, and other undiscovered pantheons. The result is a mythological crossover built around survival, divine power, and rebuilding a shattered world.
Whether playing solo or in co-op, players will choose from different lineages and classes to shape their own Godborn. The goal is not simply to survive but to rise into a new kind of deity.

God and Mortal Forms Add a Survival Twist
One of Aftergods’ key mechanics is the relationship between godhood and mortality.
Players rely on Nectar, a scarce resource that fuels their divine power. Managing Nectar is essential. Use too much at the wrong time, and your Godborn can revert to a vulnerable mortal form.
That creates a constant push and pull between power and survival. When divine energy is available, players can perform incredible feats. When it runs out, even smaller threats can become dangerous.
This gives Aftergods a clear survival identity without turning the experience into a punishment-heavy grind.

A “Survivalite” Approach to Crafting and Exploration
Norsfell is describing Aftergods as a true survivalite experience.
Instead of focusing on frustrating survival friction, the game is built around meaningful challenges and divine-scale mechanics. Players can harvest entire forests with lightning storms, summon pre-built temples from the heavens, and use mortal food as an optional buff.
That framing is important. Aftergods still includes survival crafting, base building, and resource management, but it appears designed to keep players moving toward adventure rather than slowing them down with constant busywork.

Build a New Pantheon
As players explore the broken world, they will rescue survivors ranging from mortals to fallen ancient gods.
These followers can become part of a new pantheon, each bringing unique specialties to the player’s growing base. They can help automate base building, crafting, harvesting, and resource storage while players cultivate faith and construct majestic monuments.
This system gives Aftergods a larger sense of progression. Players are not only improving their own character. They are rebuilding a divine community from the ruins of the old world.

Shapeshifting Across the Realms
Traversal is also a major part of Aftergods.
Players can shapeshift into mythical creatures like phoenixes, manticores, and sirens to move across different parts of the world. These forms allow players to climb mountains, swim across oceans, and glide through the skies.
That should make exploration feel more magical and varied, especially across a world made up of Greek, Egyptian, and Norse landmasses.

Solo, Co-Op, Online, and Offline Support
Aftergods is designed for both solo and cooperative play.
Norsfell confirmed full offline single-player support, along with multiplayer options that include peer-to-peer hosting and dedicated server rentals. That flexibility should make the game accessible to players who want a personal survival adventure and groups looking for a shared mythic journey.
Given how important co-op was to Tribes of Midgard, this will likely be one of Aftergods’ biggest strengths.

Built for Controllers and Handheld Play
Aftergods is also being built with native controller support and handheld optimization.
Norsfell specifically mentions handheld devices like the Steam Deck, which suggests the team is thinking carefully about portable play from the start. For a top-down action-RPG with survival crafting and co-op, strong controller support will be important across PC and console.

Norsfell Calls Aftergods Its Most Ambitious Game Yet
Norsfell Creative Director Julian Maroda said Aftergods builds on the success of Tribes of Midgard while expanding into a broader mythological universe.
“Building on the success of Tribes of Midgard, Aftergods expands beyond Norse lore into a rich tapestry of world mythologies. We were captivated by how closely these legends interconnect, sparking a central question: what happens when the gods lose their source of divinity and their world collapses? This is by far our most ambitious project to date, and we look forward to revealing more about this new universe and all its realms.”
It is a strong statement from a studio clearly aiming to go bigger with its next project.

Reveal Trailer Features Powerhouse Animation and Live Orchestra
Aftergods’ reveal trailer includes an original animated sequence produced by Powerhouse Animation Studios, the animation studio known for work on Blood of Zeus and Castlevania.
The trailer is also backed by a live score recorded by the 60-piece Budapest Scoring Orchestra, giving the reveal a cinematic scale that matches the game’s mythological tone.
For a new IP, that kind of reveal helps establish Aftergods as a major step forward for Norsfell.

Final Thoughts
Aftergods looks like a natural evolution for Norsfell after Tribes of Midgard.
The studio is keeping the pillars that worked, including top-down action, survival crafting, mythic boss fights, and co-op, while expanding into a bigger mythological world filled with divine forms, shapeshifting traversal, pantheon-building, and large-scale survivalite systems.
The idea of playing as a Godborn after Ragnarök is already strong, but the bigger hook is how Aftergods seem to balance power and vulnerability. Players are divine, but not unstoppable. Nectar fuels their godhood, followers help rebuild the world, and every biome appears to bring new mythological threats and opportunities.
For fans of Tribes of Midgard, co-op action-RPGs, survival crafting, and mythology-driven worlds, Aftergods is immediately one to watch.
