**Basim’s story deepens in the free Valley of Memory update arriving November 18, with new missions, exploration, gameplay mechanics and long-requested features**

As Assassin’s Creed Mirage celebrates its second anniversary, Ubisoft isn’t just lighting candles. It’s igniting a whole new journey with **Valley of Memory**, a free major story expansion launching **November 18**. For longtime players and newcomers alike, this update celebrates everything Mirage does well while pushing the experience forward in meaningful ways.

Set before the game’s finale, Valley of Memory adds **a brand-new region**, **fresh main and side quests**, **expanded gameplay systems**, and **quality-of-life improvements**, making it the biggest update Assassin’s Creed Mirage has received to date.

## **What Is Valley of Memory? A New Chapter in Basim’s Past**

Ubisoft’s free update follows **Basim** as he journeys to **AlUla**, an ancient valley steeped in 9th-century Arabian history, after hearing a rumour that his **long-lost father** may still be alive. But what starts as a search for family quickly turns into a fight to save the valley from **a brutal gang of robbers** that has seized control of the region.

### What does the expansion include?

- Up to **six hours of new story content**
- A **new explorable map** (AlUla)
- **New assassination targets**, contracts and music sheet parkour challenges
- Enhanced **black box missions** with a narrative twist

**Reader question:**
Are you excited to explore a whole new region in Assassin’s Creed Mirage or are you more curious about Basim’s personal story?

## **Explore 9th-Century AlUla: A Living, Dangerous Landscape**

The heart of Valley of Memory lies in **AlUla**, a stunning new open zone filled with **historical ruins**, **diverse landmarks** and **danger around every corner**. Ubisoft’s recreation of the valley is based on a real-world archaeological region in modern-day Saudi Arabia known for its ancient cities, tombs and stone-carved monuments.

Players will explore:

- **The Old Town of AlUla**
- **Musa Ibn Musayr’s fortress**
- **The Valley of the Stones**
- **The necropolis of Hegra**, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

As you traverse these majestic landscapes, **roaming robbers** lie in wait with **ambushes and traps** set across the region.

## **Major Gameplay Updates Coming with Valley of Memory**

Even if you don’t venture into AlUla right away, this update affects the entire game, including the main storyline in Baghdad.

### **Replayable Missions with Unique Challenges**

All **black box missions and contracts** in Mirage and Valley of Memory can now be replayed through the **Animus Sequences** or in the world. Each replay adds **new challenge modifiers**, such as:

- Completing missions without Eagle Vision
- Remaining undetected
- Killing only the main target
- Completing under a time limit

**Completing challenges unlocks exclusive in-game rewards** and new gameplay strategies.

### **Parkour Overhaul Gives Players More Control**

A highly requested upgrade is finally here. Ubisoft is introducing major parkour improvements that bring the system closer to older Assassin’s Creed games:

- **Manual jump toggle** lets players chain longer sequences
- **Side and back ejects** can now be performed even without designated landing spots
- A **new control scheme** improves rooftop traversal and responsiveness

This opens the door to more stylish and expressive parkour moments throughout Baghdad and AlUla.

### **Tool Upgrades and Loadout Customization**

A new skill called **Engineer 2** allows Basim to equip **level 1 modifications on all tools**, making him more versatile in stealth and combat.

Additionally, every tool now supports **a new level 3 modification tier**, giving you new options for distraction, sabotage and creative assassinations.

### **Additional Difficulty Levels and QoL Improvements**

Two new difficulty options allow players to tailor the challenge to their liking. Mirage also now includes:

- **Fast-forward time** while exploring
- **Automatic fog clearing** on the map once all sync points are unlocked
- **Polished UI and animation tweaks** to improve the player experience

## **New Musical Interaction**: **Basim Can Now Play the Oud**

Ubisoft has added a new feature to enhance immersion. Basim can now **play the oud**, a traditional Middle Eastern instrument, at specific locations. To unlock this feature, players must **collect hidden music sheets** throughout AlUla, often by completing **parkour-based challenges**.

It’s a peaceful and rewarding distraction that adds cultural richness to the experience.
