Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Finally Gets New Game+ in Update 1.8.0
After years of requests from players, Ubisoft has officially released New Game+ for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, giving fans another reason to return to Eivor’s Viking adventure.
Available now across all supported platforms, Title Update 1.8.0, appropriately named The Most Requested Update, introduces New Game+, expanded equipment upgrades, a new Mithril resource, additional progression options, an improved Rune Forge, and several quality-of-life improvements.
The November 5, 2026 update also introduces PSSR 2 support for PlayStation 5 Pro, alongside weapon balancing changes and new achievements.
For players who have spent hundreds of hours exploring England, Norway, and the wider world of Valhalla, there is now more to work toward.

New Game+ Finally Arrives in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
The biggest addition is undoubtedly New Game+, one of the most requested features since Valhalla originally launched in 2020.
Players can now restart Eivor's adventure while carrying over their existing progression and equipment, giving them an opportunity to revisit the story with their favourite weapons, armour, and abilities.
Ubisoft has also made New Game+ accessible earlier than some players might expect.
Rather than requiring completion of every major storyline, players can unlock the mode after finishing Holy Day, the final quest in the Hamtunscire region.
This takes place before the game's true ending, but Ubisoft says the decision was made to accommodate Valhalla's enormous campaign.
Each additional New Game+ playthrough becomes progressively more difficult, offering greater challenges for players looking to test their upgraded builds.
Mithril Introduces a New Upgrade System
New Game+ also introduces Mithril, a resource that expands the game's equipment progression.
When players discover weapons or armour they already own, or interact with previously collected Books of Knowledge, they will receive Mithril instead.
The resource can also be acquired through Niflheim, Mastery, and River Raid shops, giving players additional ways to continue improving their equipment.
Mithril plays an important role in upgrading Divine Gear, with Ubisoft increasing its maximum upgrade level from 13 to 27.
That is a substantial increase for players who want to continue strengthening their equipment across multiple playthroughs.

Divine Gear No Longer Requires Dawn of Ragnarök
Another welcome change is that Divine Gear quality is now accessible without owning the Dawn of Ragnarök expansion.
Wealth Chests that previously awarded Carbon, Nickel, or Tungsten can now provide Platinum during New Game+.
Previously associated with Dawn of Ragnarök, Platinum is now available to players without requiring the DLC.
Combined with Mithril and the increased upgrade cap, this opens up additional equipment progression for the wider Valhalla player base.

Extended Progression Mode Makes Equipment More Important
For players who want deeper character progression, Ubisoft has introduced an optional Extended Progression Mode.
This mode changes how Eivor's overall Power is calculated, giving equipment upgrades and runes a greater impact.
While active, gear upgrades and runes each contribute one Power point, while Masteries increase Power for every five skill points invested.
The system is designed to make equipment choices more meaningful, especially for players who enjoy experimenting with builds and optimizing their character.
It also introduces another level of challenge for experienced players returning through New Game+.
A New Stash Helps Organize Equipment
Anyone who has spent considerable time playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla knows how quickly weapons, armour, and runes can accumulate.
Ubisoft is addressing that with a new Stash system.
Located in Ravensthorpe, the Stash allows players to store weapons, armour, and runes they are not currently using.
It is a straightforward quality-of-life improvement, but one that should make managing large equipment collections considerably easier.
For returning players with hundreds of items collected across the campaign and expansions, the addition is especially useful.
Rune Forge Gets More Than 300 Additional Engravings
The Rune Forge is also receiving a major expansion.
Players can now upgrade existing runes through a new menu, progressing from Lesser to Normal, Greater, and eventually Superior quality.
Most upgrades require Silver, while reaching the new Superior tier requires Mithril.
Ubisoft has also added more than 300 engravable runes, expanding the number of equipment perks that can be converted into runes.
This includes perks introduced through downloadable content and Helix Store items, provided players own the associated equipment.
Engraving an eligible perk costs 450 Silver.
These additions provide more opportunities to combine effects from different weapons and armour sets, giving players greater flexibility when creating specialized builds.
New Naoe Master Assassin Outfit
The update also introduces a new Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe from Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
The cosmetic gives Eivor another appearance option while connecting Valhalla to one of the franchise's newer protagonists.
For longtime Assassin’s Creed fans, it is a welcome crossover between different eras of the series.
PlayStation 5 Pro Gets PSSR 2 Support
PlayStation 5 Pro players also receive a technical improvement.
Title Update 1.8.0 introduces PSSR 2 support, designed to enhance image quality and performance throughout Valhalla's large open world.
From England's countryside and major cities to Norway's snowy landscapes, the new support is intended to improve the visual experience on Sony's upgraded console.
Ubisoft has not provided specific resolution or frame-rate targets in the patch notes.
Weapon Balancing and Mastery Changes
Beyond the major new features, Ubisoft has made adjustments to combat balance, weapon damage, and character progression.
Several weapon categories have received changes to their regular and alternate attack damage, including swords, axes, daggers, spears, hammers, shields, and more.
Raven, Bear, and Wolf Masteries have also been rebalanced to focus more clearly on their respective combat specialties.
Raven Mastery now emphasizes assassination, evasion, and health, while Bear Mastery improves melee damage, resistance, and health. Wolf Mastery focuses on ranged damage, ranged resistance, and health.
Certain weapons, including sickles, shortswords, scythes, and atgeirs, have also received animation-speed adjustments based on the player's speed stat.
These changes are intended to improve weapon consistency and make different combat builds feel more balanced.
Two New Achievements Are Available
Completionists also have two new objectives to pursue.
Ivaldi's Heir challenges players to fully upgrade a piece of Divine Gear.
Circle of Renewal rewards players for completing a New Game+ playthrough.
Both achievements tie directly into the new progression systems, giving returning players additional long-term goals.

A Major Reason to Return to Valhalla
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla remains one of the franchise's largest adventures, with its main campaign, optional activities, settlement development, and expansions offering an enormous amount of content.
The absence of New Game+ had long been a frustration for players who wanted to replay Eivor's story without losing their equipment and progression.
Ubisoft is finally addressing that request while also expanding several systems that make returning to the game more appealing.
Mithril, Divine Gear upgrades, the redesigned Rune Forge, and Extended Progression Mode all give experienced players additional ways to develop their builds.
The Stash also addresses a practical issue that becomes increasingly noticeable the longer someone plays.
Final Thoughts
It may have taken six years, but Assassin’s Creed Valhalla finally has New Game+.
For players who have wanted to experience Eivor's journey again with their favourite equipment, this is one of the most meaningful additions Ubisoft could have made.
The expanded progression systems also help make repeated playthroughs more rewarding, rather than simply asking players to restart the same adventure.
With new equipment upgrades, deeper rune customization, a long-awaited Stash, PSSR 2 support, and numerous combat adjustments, Title Update 1.8.0 offers plenty of reasons to revisit the Viking Age.
Whether players want to experience the story again or push their strongest builds through increasingly difficult challenges, Valhalla has finally delivered its most requested feature.
