Canadian Game Awards Joins Forces with XP Game Summit for 2026 Celebration of Homegrown Games
There has been some recent big news for the Canadian gaming scene... The Canadian Game Awards and XP Game Summit are officially joining forces for 2026! These two local Toronto events are teaming up to create one giant celebration of Canadian games, studios, and creators, all happening this May.
Starting this year, the Canadian Game Awards Gala will take place alongside XP Game Summit. This means industry pros, indie devs, and players will all be in town at the same time. It’s a move that puts a well-deserved international spotlight on our $5.1 billion game industry and the talent that powers it.
The Eh! Game Showcase will be back too, giving fans the chance to try out Canadian-made games, meet devs, and discover some seriously cool upcoming titles. So whether you’re there for the awards buzz or to get hands-on with fresh games, Toronto’s about to be the place to be for anyone enthusiastic about Canadian games.
“Holding the Awards alongside XP Game Summit builds on what the Canadian Game Awards have always been about,” said Carl-Edwin Michel, creator and executive producer of the CGAs. “It gives creators the recognition they deserve and keeps the focus on the games themselves through both the Awards and the Eh! Game Showcase.”
XP Game Summit already draws hundreds of companies from all over the world — last year seeing more than 350 companies from 18 different countries fly in to connect with Canadian studios, talent, and service providers. As XP Gaming CEO Jason Lepine put it, “Partnering with the Canadian Game Awards helps show the world the depth of our industry and gives everyone a chance to celebrate it together.”
Details on this year’s Gala, programming, and ticket info for the Eh! Game Showcase are coming soon, but one thing’s crystal clear, May 2026 is going to be HUGE for Canadian gaming.
