Canadian Studio Fairview Games Takes Players Into the Wild With The Gold River Project
Recently, the Vancouver-based development team at Fairview Games, together with co-publisher Sightline Games, announced its upcoming co-op survival mystery The Gold River Project. This game will hit Steam Early Access on January 23, 2026.

Set against the beautiful and misty forests of the Pacific Northwest, The Gold River Project starts as a peaceful camping trip... Then the plot thickens and the wilderness turns hostile. Campers will quickly find themselves trapped inside a sprawling nature reserve sealed off by massive, unexplained walls. Whether playing solo or with up to three friends, players must navigate ever-shifting environments, sustain their basic needs, and uncover who (or what!) is tracking them from the shadows.

In this game, Survival isn’t just about staying alive. Plays must learn to live with the wild. Players can kayak across lakes, hike through dense trails, and set up camps anywhere they choose. Every item will matter, from a makeshift fishing pole to purified water. Building, scavenging, and trading are all part of the games rhythm, as is monitoring hunger, health, fatigue, and temperature to stay functional through the brutal seasonal shifts.
Fairview Games promises high replayability thanks to The Gold River Project’s procedural systems. Each session reshuffles locations, resources, and weather patterns to keep every expedition unpredictable. With its combination of cooperative survival mechanics, dynamic world-building, and a steadily unfolding mystery, this Canadian-made title is shaping up to be VERY intriguing when early access launches.
