Control Resonant Gameplay: Dylan Faden, Aberrant Weapon, and Manhattan Settings

Manhattan Unraveled: Welcome to the West Incursion Zone

In Control Resonant, you step into the shoes of Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, who has been released from FBC confinement to deal with a reality-shattering crisis. The new gameplay footage showcases the West Incursion Zone, a massive district where architecture folds like origami and gravity is more of a suggestion than a law.

While the game isn't a traditional open world, Remedy is moving toward "open-ended" zones. These are sprawling areas packed with side activities and hidden secrets, all anchored by a tight, central narrative. Helping you navigate this chaos is a new character, Zoe De Vera, an FBC Field Agent who acts as Dylan’s handler and emotional tether as he struggles to hold onto his humanity.

Combat Redefined: The Aberrant

The biggest shift from the first game is the move toward melee-focused action-RPG gameplay. Dylan doesn't use the Service Weapon; instead, he wields The Aberrant. This otherworldly, shapeshifting tool can transform on the fly into several forms:

  • Hammer: For heavy, ground-shaking impact.
  • Blades & Scythe: For quick, sweeping crowd control.
  • Fists: For brutal, up-close combat.

Defying Physics with Reach and Shift

Traversal is just as much of a weapon as the Aberrant. Since Manhattan is literally breaking apart, Dylan uses two core supernatural abilities to get around:

  • Reach: Allows him to bridge gaps in spaces where regular physics have failed.
  • Shift: Lets him redirect his momentum mid-air, which is essential when a "Gravity Anomaly" flips the street upside down or turns a skyscraper into a horizontal bridge.

The Resonants: Bosses with a Purpose

The game’s name comes from its primary antagonists: The Resonants. These are corrupted remnants of powerful individuals who have been twisted by the cosmic force invading our reality. These act as the game’s major boss encounters, and defeating them is the only way Dylan can expand his own powers. Each time you take one down, you absorb a brand-new supernatural ability into your arsenal.
