Dead by Daylight Celebrates 10 Years With Jason, Terrifier, New Modes, Modding, Movie Updates, and a Huge Future Roadmap
Dead by Daylight has officially entered rare territory.
Behaviour Interactive’s groundbreaking horror multiplayer game celebrated its 10th anniversary in Montreal, welcoming thousands of fans from around the world for a major day-long event in the city’s Old Port. The celebration featured panels, meet-and-greets, art, photo opportunities, and a full showcase from the development team looking ahead to the next decade of horror inside The Fog.
For a live service game to reach 10 years is already impressive. For Dead by Daylight to do it after back-to-back record-setting years makes the milestone even more meaningful. The message from Behaviour Interactive was clear: Dead by Daylight is not slowing down.
In fact, the next era of the game may be its most ambitious yet.

Jason Voorhees Finally Enters The Fog
The biggest immediate highlight is the long-awaited arrival of Jason Voorhees.
After years of fan requests, the legendary horror icon is finally joining Dead by Daylight with Dead by Daylight: Jason, launching June 16 on all platforms.
Jason has been one of the most requested characters in the game’s history, and his arrival marks a major moment for the franchise. Dead by Daylight has become the home of horror’s biggest icons over the years, and adding Jason feels like one of the final missing pieces in its legendary roster.

Dead by Daylight Introduces Its First Indigenous Survivor
Shortly after Jason, Behaviour Interactive will release Dead by Daylight: The Life Road on June 25.
This survivor-focused chapter introduces Shane Wiigwaas, Dead by Daylight’s first Indigenous survivor. It is a meaningful addition to the game’s growing roster of original characters and another example of how Behaviour continues to expand the world of Dead by Daylight through new perspectives and stories.
The Life Road follows closely behind Jason, giving players two major Chapter releases in the same month.

Terrifier Joins Dead by Daylight This November
The scares continue later this year with another major horror collaboration.
Behaviour confirmed that Art the Clown from Terrifier is coming to The Entity’s Realm with Dead by Daylight: Terrifier, launching in November 2026.
Art the Clown has quickly become one of modern horror’s most recognizable icons, making his addition to Dead by Daylight a natural fit. With his disturbing presence and brutal horror legacy, Art should bring a very different kind of terror to The Fog.
Chorus of Sin Brings the Community Into Development
Before Terrifier arrives, Dead by Daylight will release Dead by Daylight: Chorus of Sin in August.
This Chapter is especially important because it is the game’s first-ever Chapter developed entirely in collaboration with the community. Dead by Daylight has always had a passionate and vocal fanbase, and Chorus of Sin turns that relationship into something more direct.
By building a Chapter with community input at its core, Behaviour is showing how important player creativity and feedback will be in the future of the game.
The Casting of Frank Stone Gets a Dead by Daylight Chapter in 2027
Looking further ahead, Behaviour also confirmed plans for a 2027 Chapter based on The Casting of Frank Stone, Dead by Daylight’s first narrative-driven title.
This is an interesting step for the franchise because it brings the world of Dead by Daylight full circle. After expanding into a story-focused game, that same narrative universe will now feed back into the core multiplayer experience.
It is another sign that Behaviour is thinking about Dead by Daylight as more than just one game. It is becoming a larger horror universe.

A Massive Visual Overhaul Is Coming in 2027
One of the biggest gameplay-focused announcements was a major visual overhaul planned for 2027.
This update is designed to make every Trial more immersive, cinematic, and emotionally intense. Behaviour is planning broad improvements across characters, environments, effects, and presentation.
The overhaul will include:
- Reworked character models
- Expanded animation capabilities
- Realistic facial animations
- Upgraded lighting, shading, and textures
- Improved Fog and Mist effects
- Stronger Entity presence in maps
- Dynamic weather systems
- New voice lines for applicable original characters
Dynamic weather is one of the most exciting additions. For the first time in Dead by Daylight, Trials will be able to feature light rain, heavy rain, and storms. That could dramatically change the atmosphere of matches and make familiar maps feel fresh again.
New Game Modes Are on the Way
Behaviour also teased a wider selection of new game modes coming in the years ahead.
Early details were shared for:
- 1v1 Mode
- Zombie Mode
Dead by Daylight’s standard 4v1 formula is iconic, but new modes could give players fresh ways to experience The Fog. A 1v1 mode could create a more intense and personal horror experience, while Zombie Mode opens the door for something more chaotic and survival-focused.
For a game entering its second decade, new modes are exactly the kind of addition that can help keep the experience exciting.
Sandboxed Modding Is Coming to Dead by Daylight
One of the most surprising announcements was that Dead by Daylight will officially open itself up to sandboxed modding.
Behaviour is working on tools planned for release sometime next year, giving players the ability to create and share new maps, modes, and more within a controlled environment.
This could be a massive turning point for the community. Modding has helped extend the life of many games, and giving Dead by Daylight players creative tools could unlock an entirely new wave of player-made horror experiences.
It also fits perfectly with the future of the game. After 10 years, Behaviour is not just adding content for players. It is preparing to let players help shape what The Fog can become.

Dead by Daylight Movie Gets a Major Update
The Dead by Daylight movie also received a major update during the anniversary event.
Behaviour Interactive Executive Vice President Stephen Mulrooney appeared on stage alongside producer Jason Blum from Blumhouse Atomic Monster to discuss the film.
The screenplay has already been completed by Alexandre Aja and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The team also revealed Thordur Palsson as the film’s director, with Palsson joining the stage to share his vision for bringing Dead by Daylight to the big screen.
With Blumhouse involved and a director now attached, the Dead by Daylight movie feels like it is moving into a more concrete stage of development.

New Collections Include Scooby-Doo, Diablo, Silent Hill, The Walking Dead, and More
The showcase also included several new Collection reveals.
The Black Banquet Collection, tied to this year’s Anniversary Event running from June 25 to July 16, will offer players formal wear inspired by the celebration. The Sunflesh Collection will bring a desert-themed style to one of the game’s upcoming Rifts.
Behaviour also revealed several major collaborations and Legendary Outfits, including:
- Eddie Legendary Outfit for The Huntress, celebrating Iron Maiden’s 50th anniversary
- Ice Nine Kills Collection, inspired by the heavy metal band
- The Walking Dead Collection, adding Glenn and Negan as Legendary Outfits for Rick
- Silent Hill Collection, turning Cheryl into Shimizu Hinako from Silent Hill f
- Scooby-Doo Collection, bringing the beloved mystery-solving characters into Dead by Daylight
- Diablo Collection, launching this October with demonic new cosmetics
The Scooby-Doo reveal is especially notable because fans have requested it for years. It may be one of the most unexpected and exciting cosmetic collaborations Dead by Daylight has ever done.
Dead by Daylight Is Bigger Than Ever
After 10 years, Dead by Daylight could have simply celebrated its legacy. Instead, Behaviour Interactive used the anniversary to show how much bigger the game can still become.
Jason Voorhees is finally arriving. Art the Clown is coming. The first Indigenous Survivor joins the roster. A community-built Chapter is on the way. A major visual overhaul is planned. New modes are coming. Modding tools are in development. The movie is moving forward. And the cosmetic collaborations are getting wilder than ever.
That is a massive roadmap for any live service game, let alone one already celebrating a decade of success.
Final Thoughts
Dead by Daylight’s 10th anniversary event was more than a celebration. It was a statement.
Behaviour Interactive is clearly treating the next 10 years of Dead by Daylight as a new beginning. With major horror icons, original stories, new technology, player-created content, and an expanding media universe, The Fog is growing in every direction.
Ten years later, Dead by Daylight remains one of the most important horror games in the world.
And somehow, its future looks even more terrifying.
