Dead by Daylight: Sinister Grace Introduces The Krasue and Vee Boonyasak in a Thai Folk Horror Chapter

A floating head, a cursed opera singer, and a drummer torn from the road—Behaviour Interactive’s latest Chapter dives deep into body horror and Southeast Asian folklore.
The Fog thickens once more, and this time it brings with it one of the most disturbing Killers Dead by Daylight has ever seen. Sinister Grace, a brand-new original Chapter coming in September 2025, draws inspiration from Thai folk horror and introduces the Krasue, a legendary spirit with a grotesque appetite and a terrifying visual design. Joining her is new Survivor Vee Boonyasak, a fiery drummer whose passion for music is matched only by her drive to survive.
Currently available to play via the Public Test Build (PTB), Sinister Grace promises not only a unique thematic direction but also new mechanics, lore, and perks that will give both Survivors and Killers new toys to master.
A Return to Original Horror – With a Thai Twist
While Dead by Daylight is no stranger to licensed content—from Silent Hill to Castlevania—its original Chapters offer some of the game’s most creative risks. Sinister Grace is no exception, pushing boundaries both thematically and visually by venturing into the realm of Thai folk horror.
At the heart of this Chapter is The Krasue, based on the mythical entity of Southeast Asian legend. Often portrayed as the floating head of a woman with entrails trailing beneath, the Krasue is a terrifying symbol of hunger, transformation, and the body turned monstrous. It’s a horror rarely seen in Western media—and exactly the kind of unsettling brilliance that Dead by Daylight fans have come to crave.
“We wanted to deliver something for the gore fans,” says Creative Director Dave Richard. “Her body rips and peels open like a blister under pressure. It doesn’t get better than this.”
The result is a Killer who is equal parts elegance and horror—an opera singer cursed to become a floating, disembowelled head with an unforgettable silhouette and a gameplay loop that offers versatility, speed, and gut-wrenching damage.
Who Is The Krasue in Dead by Daylight?
In Dead by Daylight, the Krasue is known as Burong Sukapat, a gifted opera singer whose rise to fame came with a heavy price. Lured by the promise of eternal beauty and renown, she struck a deal with a malevolent force—only to find herself overtaken by a curse that separates her soul and body each night.
Once her transformation begins, she becomes a horror of entrails, blood, and song—a creature of appetite whose legacy now lives within The Entity’s realm.
Krasue Gameplay – Float, Spit, Whip, Repeat
As a Killer, The Krasue offers a dual-form playstyle unlike anything currently in the game. Players can alternate between two distinct forms:
- Floating Head Mode: Increased speed and access to the Intestinal Whip, a melee attack that—yes—is exactly what it sounds like. Devastating in chase and deeply unsettling to witness.
- Grounded Body Form: While on foot, she can launch the Leeching Gland, a projectile that infects Survivors and lowers their resistance, opening them up for faster downs.
This combination of range, speed, and status effects means that The Krasue is a high-skill Killer designed for players who enjoy adaptability, mobility, and brutal visual flair.
A New Survivor: Vee Boonyasak
Every great Killer deserves a strong foil, and Sinister Grace delivers with Vee Boonyasak, a drummer from Thailand’s underground music scene and the pulse of her band Axekick. A touring musician used to sleeping in vans and fixing broken gear mid-show, Vee brings a fast-paced, high-energy playstyle inspired by the spirit of rock and roll.
Her perks lean into themes of momentum, resilience, and rhythm, making her a compelling option for loop-heavy players who thrive under pressure.
“Vee is extra special to me because I’m also a drummer,” shares Dave Richard. “Her attitude and energy really bring something new to the Trials.”
Beyond her kit, Vee represents another stride in cultural representation for Dead by Daylight, offering not just visibility, but depth. Her character is fun, passionate, and a breath of fresh air among the Survivor roster.
Six New Perks – Including a New Hex
Sinister Grace introduces six brand-new perks—three for the Killer and three for the Survivor. Notably, one of the Killer perks is a new Hex, marking the first Hex perk since the Castlevania Chapter. While full details are still emerging, early impressions suggest the perks provide:
- Killer Perks: Increased lethality when alternating forms, pressure through status effects, and one Hex that punishes healing or item usage.
- Survivor Perks: Focus on movement speed, teamwork efficiency, and rewarding clutch saves under pressure.
These perks aim to shake up existing meta builds, offering both casual and competitive players a reason to experiment.
The Power of Music – A Core Theme
In a surprising yet fitting twist, Sinister Grace connects its two characters through their shared love of music. Where Burong was a classically trained opera singer, Vee is a self-taught punk rocker. This contrast creates a thematic bridge between beauty and chaos, structure and improvisation—much like the Trials themselves.
With sound playing such a central role in Dead by Daylight—from terror radius music to chase themes—tying character identity to musical style adds another layer to the immersion.
Could we one day see a Dead by Daylight in-game concert? With all these musicians entering The Fog, it’s not as far-fetched as it sounds.
