Ghost of Yōtei Legends: Everything We Know About the Free Co-op Expansion
Sucker Punch just dropped a massive update during the latest State of Play, and fans of the original Ghost of Tsushima have a lot to be excited about. Ghost of Yōtei Legends is officially coming on March 10 as part of the 1.5 patch, and the best part is that it is completely free for everyone who owns the base game.
This isn't just a minor add-on. Legends is a full-scale online co-op mode where you and your friends can take on supernatural, monstrous versions of the Yōtei Six. From giant spiders to mystical oni, the stakes are much higher than the grounded story of the main game.

New Ways to Play: Survival and Story
The expansion launches with three core mission types designed to test your teamwork:
- Survival (4 Players): You and three teammates will defend four different maps against waves of increasingly difficult enemies. You will need to hold your ground to activate Blessings, which give you a combat edge. If you lose a zone, a Curse is unleashed, making the fight much harder.
- Story & Incursions (2–4 Players): There are 12 story missions built for pairs. Once you finish a set of three, you unlock an Incursion. These are four-player assaults on strongholds that end in epic boss fights against the Spider, the Oni, the Kitsune, or the Snake.
- The Raid (Coming in April): If you are looking for the ultimate challenge, the Raid arrives a month after launch. This is where you will face off against the Dragon and Lord Saito himself.

Meet the Four Classes
You can choose a role that fits your playstyle. While everyone can use basic katanas and bows, each class has a specialized weapon:
- Samurai: The frontline tank who can wield the massive ōdachi.
- Archer: The long-range specialist who also carries a yari (spear) for close encounters.
- Mercenary: A utility-focused fighter who dual-wields katanas.
- Shinobi: The master of stealth who uses the iconic kusarigama.
More Than Just Combat
When you aren't out hunting monsters, the new Legends Lobby gives you a place to breathe. You can practice your archery, challenge friends to a game of Zeni Hajiki, or try to top the leaderboard in Bamboo Strike.
As you level up, you will earn loot, Legendary gear, and unique armor cosmetics to show off your achievements. And yes, Photo Mode is back, so you can capture those perfectly timed squad shots before the next wave hits.
