MONTREAL – TUESDAY, AUGUST 29, 2023 – Indie game development studio KO_OP today announced the launch of its highly-anticipated musical cinematic novel game Goodbye Volcano High. The game -- available today on the PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4 consoles, and for PC on Steam -- follows Fang, a young nonbinary dinosaur and budding musician, and their classmates as they near the end of their senior year of high school.

KO_OP is celebrating the much-anticipated launch with a limited-time 10% discount for the first week of availability, as well as a new launch trailer, and a new line of Goodbye Volcano High merchandise. The soundtrack is also available on Steam for $9.99 USD or together with the game as a bundle.

Goodbye Volcano High is a story-driven, choice-based cinematic adventure game about personal growth, acceptance, and the power of community. The emotional, high-stakes teenage narrative adventure takes players on a journey of self-discovery, deciding how to live one’s life to the fullest when they know that their days together are numbered.

The coming-of-age story plays out through touch choices, branching dialog, cinematic minigames, and rhythmic musical gameplay. Actor Lachlan Watson (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) lends their voice to Fang, the game’s playable protagonist, and their band Worm Drama’s haunting original songs are performed by Montreal-based composer and sound designer Dabu, featuring Brigitte Naggar of Common Holly, with additional vocals performed by Watson.

Debuted as part of Sony’s June 2020 PlayStation 5 event, the game garnered immediate attention for its hand-drawn animation and relatable teenage angst. The accolades culminated when, making its World Premiere as an Official Tribeca Festival Selection, Goodbye Volcano High took home the Games Award this past June.
