Ocelot Technologies has shared a new development update for **Guild Saga: Vanished Worlds**, offering a closer look at several features coming as the tactical RPG moves toward its full Version 1.0 release.

The October devlog introduces **Hero Mode**, a new dungeon called **The Archives**, and fresh abilities for the Rogue, Pyromancer, and Engineer schools.

Guild Saga: Vanished Worlds remains available in Early Access on Steam, with Version 1.0 currently planned for **Q2 2027**.

## Hero Mode Raises the Stakes

One of the biggest additions in development is **Hero Mode**, designed for players looking for a tougher tactical challenge.

Hero Mode combines **Tactician difficulty with a single save**, while also changing select encounters to make preparation and decision-making more important.

Consumables become especially valuable, as players need to think carefully about when and where to use their limited resources.

Death ends the Hero Mode attempt, but not the entire playthrough. Players who fall can continue their adventure on standard Tactician difficulty rather than losing their character completely.

Ocelot Technologies is also adjusting enemy compositions and skills in certain encounters, meaning returning players may find familiar battles playing out differently.

## Enter The Archives

The devlog also gives players a closer look at **The Archives**, a large dungeon located inside an ancient elven library.

Players who explored Arborea in Update 0.8 may have already encountered its entrance.

Inside, the Archives will feature puzzles, combat encounters, new enemies, books to discover, lore quizzes, maze sections, and secrets hidden throughout the library.

The area also plays an important role in the main story, offering new information about ongoing quests and the activities of the chronomancer **Thevyre**.

For players invested in the larger mysteries of Guild Saga, the Archives looks like it will be one of the more important locations introduced before Version 1.0.

## Rogue Gets Wraith

Character progression continues to expand with several new abilities.

The Rogue school is getting **Wraith**, which allows a character to become invisible and undetectable by enemies for three turns.

While invisible, players can reposition freely, giving Rogues another tool for setting up attacks, escaping dangerous situations, or moving into better tactical positions.

## Pyromancer Adds Chainfire Blast

Pyromancers will gain **Chainfire Blast**, an ability that launches a fireball capable of ricocheting between multiple enemies.

The attack can hit up to five targets in a single cast, giving Pyromancers another option for dealing with groups rather than focusing entirely on a single target.

It should fit naturally into builds centered around battlefield control and spreading elemental damage.

## Engineer Wildcard Surfaces Add More Chaos

Engineers are getting one of the more unpredictable mechanics shown in the devlog.

**Wildcard surfaces** are a new battlefield surface type that randomly adopts the effect of an existing surface.

Players can recognize a Wildcard when it appears, but they will not know exactly what effect it will produce until it activates.

Several Engineer abilities are built around the mechanic. **Wildcard Attack** creates a Wildcard surface beneath an enemy, while **Wash The Deck** converts nearby surfaces into Wildcards.

That randomness could create some unusual tactical situations, particularly when combined with Guild Saga's existing environmental systems.

## More Than 200 Skills Planned for Version 1.0

Ocelot Technologies says Guild Saga is expected to feature **more than 200 skills** by the time Version 1.0 launches.

Update 0.8 already added more than 60 abilities across the game's combat schools, bringing the current total to well over 150.

The continued expansion should give players considerably more flexibility when building characters and party compositions in the finished game.

## Development Continues Toward Version 1.0

The October update also offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the **Exarch illustration**, while Ocelot Technologies continues gathering feedback from Early Access players.

The studio is specifically encouraging feedback on areas such as controller support, the experimental camera mode, and difficulty.

Guild Saga's Early Access period has already resulted in several major additions, including new areas, sailing, expanded crafting, additional combat encounters, and dozens of new abilities.

Version 1.0 was previously planned for 2026, but Ocelot Technologies moved the release to **Q2 2027** to accommodate the growing scope of the game and provide additional development time.

## Guild Saga: Vanished Worlds Is Available Now in Early Access

Guild Saga: Vanished Worlds is currently available through Steam Early Access.

The game also offers a free Steam demo for players who want to try it before purchasing.

Text localization is currently supported in **English, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese**.

## Final Thoughts

Guild Saga: Vanished Worlds continues to grow into a much larger tactical RPG as Ocelot Technologies works toward Version 1.0.

Hero Mode should give experienced players a more demanding way to approach the campaign, while the Archives expands both exploration and the game's main story. New Rogue, Pyromancer, and Engineer abilities also show that character building is continuing to become more flexible.

With more than 200 skills planned alongside new locations, encounters, and progression systems, the road to Version 1.0 is looking increasingly ambitious.
