Hotel Espir Is a Haunting New Horror Game Where Silence Means Survival
Silence Is Survival in Hotel Espir
Lost Souls Interactive has officially revealed its debut title, Hotel Espir, a single-player horror experience built around a simple but unsettling idea: every sound you make could be your last.
Set in 1942 Alabama, Hotel Espir blends stealth-driven gameplay, religious symbolism, and story-focused puzzles to tell a deeply human horror story. This is not a game about cheap scares. It is about inherited violence, buried sins, and the ghosts people leave behind.

A Hotel With a Bloody Past
Players take on the role of Charles Lemek, a travelling father desperate to return home before the birth of his daughter. His journey brings him to his final stop for the night: Hotel Espir, a once-grand hotel hiding a century of secrets.
As the evening progresses, guests begin to vanish. The hotel grows quieter. Then the truth reveals itself. A vengeful poltergeist stalks the halls, blind but deadly, hunting entirely by sound.
Every creaking floorboard, every hurried step, every mistake matters.

Horror Built on Silence
At its core, Hotel Espir is about restraint. Movement itself becomes a risk.
William Kiley, Creative Director at Lost Souls Interactive, explains the philosophy behind the design:
“We wanted to make a horror game where silence is as important as movement. Every sound is a risk. Every step could draw something closer.”
Instead of relying on jump scares, the game builds tension through atmosphere and consequence. The fear comes from knowing something is listening.

Key Gameplay Features
- Stay Silent, Stay Alive
The poltergeist cannot see you, but it hears everything. Careful movement is the difference between survival and death. - Solve Deadly Puzzles
Decode letters, uncover hidden clues, and piece together the tragic history of the Johnson family. - Explore the Hotel
Five distinct floors of Hotel Espir open up over time, each revealing more of the hotel’s violent past. - Permanent Consequences
Death on the lower floors is final. No reload—no second chances. Mistakes carry weight.

A Focus on Story Over Scares
Built in Unity, Hotel Espir is a narrative-driven horror game that prioritizes atmosphere, character, and psychological tension. Rather than overwhelming players with constant threats, the game gives them space to sit with dread, allowing fear to grow naturally.
This approach gives the story room to breathe, and more importantly, provides player choices with earning.

The Studio Behind the Horror
Lost Souls Interactive is an independent studio founded in 2024, based in Halifax, Canada, with team members spread across North America and Europe.
The studio’s mission is clear: create horror games about people, not monsters. Their work centers on tragic villains, dark places, and the human motivations that shape fear.
Hotel Espir marks its first release, and it sets a confident tone for what the studio wants to explore moving forward.

A Promising First Step
Hotel Espir feels like a return to a more thoughtful kind of horror. One rooted in tension, storytelling, and consequence rather than spectacle. It respects the player’s intelligence and understands that silence can be far more terrifying than noise.
For fans of slow-burn horror, stealth-based gameplay, and stories that linger long after the screen goes dark, this is a debut worth keeping an eye on.
