Konami’s State of Play: Castlevania Returns, MGS Collection 2, and Silent Hill Gameplay!

Konami clearly came to play at this year's State of Play. Between a massive collaboration for a new Castlevania, a long-awaited Silent Hill gameplay reveal, and the return of some of the most influential stealth games ever made, the publisher is firing on all cylinders.

Here is your breakdown of Konami’s big night.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse – A Gothic Masterpiece in 1499 Paris

In a surprise collaboration, Konami is teaming up with the "rogue-lite" geniuses at Evil Empire (of Dead Cells fame) and Motion Twin for a brand-new 2D exploration-action title.

Set in 1499 Paris, the city has been overrun by nightmare creatures. You play as the direct successor to Trevor Belmont, tasked with hunting down these beasts in a burning, atmospheric version of the French capital.

Why This Isn't Your Average Castlevania:

  • The Whip as a Trapeze: The Vampire Killer is back, but it is more than just a weapon. You can use it like a trapeze to swing through the air, pouncing on enemies with wolf-like speed.
  • Massive Arsenal: Beyond the whip, you can master swords, scythes, and more.
  • Classic Secrets: Yes, the breakable walls and "wall meat" are back, alongside iconic enemies like the slow-moving but deadly Zombie swarms.

Release Date: Coming to PS5 and PC in 2026.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 – The Legends Return

The wait for the second half of the Metal Gear saga is over. Konami confirmed that Master Collection Vol. 2 will launch on August 27, 2026. This volume finally rescues Guns of the Patriots from PS3 jail.

What is included:

  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: Features improved resolution, higher frame rates, and customizable controls.
  • MGS: Peace Walker: The HD version of Big Boss’s Costa Rican adventure, complete with 4-player co-op and 6-player competitive modes.
  • Metal Gear: Ghost Babel: The hidden gem from the Game Boy Color (2000) makes its modern debut with screen filters and a rewind function.

Bonus: If you have save data from Vol. 1, you will unlock Gold Camouflage for Snake in MGS4 and the Gold Uniform in Peace Walker.

Silent Hill: Townfall – Horror Through a New Lens

After years of silence, Screen Burn Interactive and Annapurna gave us a visceral look at Silent Hill: Townfall. Shifting to a first-person perspective, the game tells the story of Simon Ordell, who finds himself trapped in the fog-heavy town of St. Amelia.

The CRTV: More Than a Radio

Taking the place of the classic radio is the CRTV, a handheld pocket television. This device is the heart of the gameplay:

  • Thermal Sight: It allows you to "see" the outlines of enemies through the fog and walls.
  • Story Signals: You’ll tune into cryptic broadcasts to solve tactile, narrative-driven puzzles.
  • Stealth vs. Combat: While you have melee weapons and pistols, the game emphasizes that knowing when not to fight is vital. If enemies track you down, they will dynamically hunt you using the environment.
