Nintendo Direct September 2025 Recap: All Switch 2 Games, Mario Galaxy Movie, and Metroid Prime 4 Revealed

Mario’s 40th Anniversary Kicks Off With Galaxy Re-Releases and a New Movie
Shigeru Miyamoto himself opened the Direct with a major milestone: 40 years of Super Mario Bros., which first launched on September 13, 1985. In celebration, Nintendo is going galactic.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Return This October
Available as a bundle or separately via Nintendo eShop, both Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 launch on October 2 for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The updated editions include:
- Enhanced visuals and 4K resolution on Switch 2
- Storybook mode and music player
- Optional motion or button controls
- Amiibo support for Mario & Luma and Rosalina & Lumas
- A physical edition containing both games

Nintendo Switch 2 Gets Its First Real Momentum Push
With a hybrid of Switch and Switch 2 titles filling the rest of 2025 and 2026, Nintendo made it clear: Switch 2 is here to stay.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Finally unveiled in full, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond launches December 4 on both platforms. This entry sees Samus exploring planet Viewros, now equipped with psychic powers and her new Vi-O-La bike. A trio of new amiibo arrives November 6 and December 4, alongside a Metroid Prime 1–3 Visual Retrospective artbook on October 28.
Mario Tennis Fever
Launching February 12, 2026, this new entry in the Mario sports lineup features:

Return to a ruined Raccoon City in this ninth mainline RE game, which supports both first- and third-person play. Resident Evil 7 and Village will also launch on Switch 2 on the same day.
Hades II – Switch 2 Edition (Sept 25)
Supergiant’s latest roguelike now supports 120fps, cross-save, and comes physically on Nov 20. The Switch 2 version launches first on consoles.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection
