No More Room in Hell 2 Camp Blood Update Adds Ruby Lake and Retirement System
Torn Banner Studios has released the Camp Blood 1.2 update for No More Room in Hell 2, introducing a brand-new Survival map, long-term progression systems, new cosmetics, experimental subtitles, balance changes, and a large collection of fixes.
The update, dated October 20, 2026, is headlined by Ruby Lake, a new map inspired by classic 1980s campsite slashers, alongside the debut of Responder Retirement and Distinguished Service.
Ruby Lake Brings 80s Slasher Horror to Survival
The biggest new addition is Ruby Lake, a fresh Survival experience set on the outskirts of Warren County, New Jersey.
The map draws inspiration from the campsite slasher movies of the 1980s, giving No More Room in Hell 2 a more traditional horror setting while maintaining the game’s large-scale zombie survival focus.
Within the scenario, the CRC is assisting the National Guard with the evacuation of civilians while zombies are drawn into the abandoned facilities as a distraction.
The setting gives the update a fitting seasonal identity, especially for players looking for a more classic horror atmosphere.
Responder Retirement Introduces Long-Term Progression
Camp Blood also introduces Responder Retirement, a prestige-style progression system designed for players looking for more long-term goals.
Responders who reach Level 100 can be retired permanently. Once retired, that character can no longer be played, but the player receives progress toward a new Distinguished Service Rank.
Retiring Responders also increases the starting level of future characters by +1, up to a maximum starting level of 30.
It gives longtime players a reason to keep building new Responders rather than simply reaching the maximum level and stopping.
Distinguished Service Adds New Rewards
The new Distinguished Service system builds on Retirement by introducing its own reward track.
Experience is earned exclusively by retiring eligible Responders, with the amount of XP based on that character’s accomplishments and skills.
There are 20 Distinguished Service levels available in this update, with more planned for the future.
Rewards include additional loadout slots, cosmetics, and new gameplay-related unlocks.
This effectively gives No More Room in Hell 2 a new endgame progression loop for players who want to keep advancing after reaching high character levels.
Experimental Subtitles Are Now Available
The update also introduces subtitles as an experimental feature.
For now, subtitle support begins with CRC dialogue and uses generalized lines that communicate the core objective even when the spoken dialogue varies.
Players can also adjust limited subtitle settings to better suit their preferences.
Torn Banner is treating the feature as a work in progress and is asking players for feedback as it continues to improve accessibility.
New Cosmetics and DLC Bundles
Responder Retirement also brings new cosmetic rewards and logos that can be earned through Distinguished Service.
On top of that, the update adds three new cosmetic DLC bundles, including designs inspired by horror icons and the return of a familiar look from the original No More Room in Hell.
The Scarecrow pack is priced slightly higher because of the additional 3D components used in its design.
Communication Ranges Have Been Reworked
In-match communication has also been adjusted across the game’s maps.
Nameplate and VOIP ranges now vary depending on map size and density.
Larger maps such as Power Plant and Pottsville support communication up to 90 metres away, while denser maps like Bunker, Lewiston, Flooded, and Lighthouse use a 60-metre range.
The smallest and most vertical maps, including Ruby Lake, NOTLD, Broadway, and Hospital, use a 45-metre range.
The goal is to make proximity communication feel more appropriate for each environment instead of using one universal range.
Power Plant Finale Gets Reworked
The Power Plant finale has also received a notable redesign.
Players must now complete two randomly selected objectives across the three exterior points of interest before entering headquarters.
From there, they must repair one randomly selected group of components before opening the control-room shutters, locating a codebook, entering the code, and extracting.
The developers said the previous finale scenarios felt too easy and underwhelming on their own, so the new version combines several objectives into a more substantial conclusion.
Zombie spawning and enemy variety in the Power Plant region have also been adjusted.
Additional Map Changes
Several other maps received smaller balance updates.
Hospital has a lower barricade plank spawn rate, Lewiston car trunks should now produce loot more reliably, and Raven Rock has added critical supplies to its loot pool.
Train extraction pressure in Raven Rock has also been adjusted.
Large Batch of Fixes and Improvements
Camp Blood includes a lengthy list of fixes covering animation, audio, gameplay, maps, servers, UI, and matchmaking.
Among the more notable changes:
- Infection progression now pauses while players are disconnected
- Additional fixes help prevent extraction helicopter issues
- Matchmaking has been improved for players with crossplay disabled
- Crash and server performance improvements have been added
- Various controller navigation issues have been fixed
- Objective logs and markers have received multiple corrections
- Zombie navigation and spawning have been improved across several maps
The update also includes fixes for clipping, invisible objects, audio issues, weapon animations, loot spawns, UI errors, and respawn behaviour.
Known Issues Remain
The developers are also tracking several known problems.
These include squad-forming issues under certain network conditions, bugs that can prevent players from shoving or kicking, subtitle timing problems, and an issue that can cause the game to hang when trying to retire an under-levelled Responder after all current Responders have already been retired.
Additional fixes are planned for future updates and hotfixes.
Final Thoughts
The Camp Blood update is one of the more substantial progression-focused updates No More Room in Hell 2 has received.
Ruby Lake gives players a fresh Survival environment with a strong horror identity, while Retirement and Distinguished Service introduce a much-needed long-term progression loop for veteran players.
The reworked Power Plant finale, communication changes, subtitles, cosmetics, and extensive fixes also make this more than just a content drop.
For players who have already spent a significant amount of time surviving the outbreak, Camp Blood provides new reasons to return and keep building their roster.
