PlayStation VR2 Expands Horizons: Steam VR Games Now Playable on PC

When PlayStation VR2 launched last year, it opened a new dimension of virtual reality for PS5 players, combining innovative gameplay with immersive sensory features. Driven by a passion to provide gamers with more content options, Sony has been hard at work to extend the capabilities of PS VR2 to PC. Starting August 7, PS VR2 users will be able to access and enjoy a vast library of VR games on Steam, including popular titles like Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, and War Thunder.

Expanding the PlayStation VR2 Universe

To bring this vision to life, players will need to purchase a PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, available for $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99 at select retailers and on direct.playstation.com. Additionally, a commercially available DisplayPort cable compatible with DisplayPort 1.4 is required. Players must also ensure their PC meets the minimum specifications:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit / Windows 11 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later)
  • RAM: 8 GB or more
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later (Turing or later), NVIDIA RTX series, AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later / AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or later
  • DisplayPort: DisplayPort 1.4
  • USB: Direct connection only
  • Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.0 or later**

For the best performance, we recommend using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or later, or an AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or later graphics card.

Simple Setup and Seamless Integration

Setting up PS VR2 on PC is straightforward:

  1. Connect the PS VR2 to your PC using the PS VR2 PC adapter and the DisplayPort 1.4 cable.
  2. Download the PlayStation VR2 App and the SteamVR App from Steam.
  3. Configure your settings and play area, and start exploring the expansive SteamVR library.

Key Features and Limitations

While PS VR2 was designed with the PS5 in mind, translating its functionality to PC comes with a few trade-offs. Features like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and advanced haptic feedback (other than rumble) will not be available on PC. However, several high-fidelity features remain supported:

  • 4K visuals (2000 x 2040 per eye)
  • 110-degree field of view
  • Finger touch detection
  • See-through view
  • Foveated rendering (without eye tracking)
  • 3D Audio (via SteamVR’s audio technology)

Expanded Game Library and Special Discounts

With the ability to play an extensive array of VR games on Steam, PS VR2 users can dive into multiplayer open worlds, survival horror, stealth action games, sports sims, puzzlers, and free-to-play fan favourites. As part of the Days of Play celebration, gamers can also enjoy a $100 discount on PS VR2 and the PS VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle (for PS5) until June 12. Check direct.playstation.com and participating local retailers for regional offers and promotion dates.

Embrace the New Frontier of VR Gaming

While the most immersive way to experience PS VR2 remains on PS5, we are thrilled to offer players the flexibility to enjoy a broader lineup of VR games on PC. Stay tuned for more updates and let us know which games you're excited to try in this expanded universe!

Note: Please ensure your PC setup meets the minimum requirements for optimal performance and check individual game requirements on Steam.
