[HeartLoop Games](https://heartloopgames.com/?ref=agamingnetwork.com) (a Montreal indie studio) has launched its debut title, [***Poly Fighter***](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3977340/Poly%5FFighter/?ref=agamingnetwork.com), into Steam Early Access, which is available today. It is a single-player roguelike fighting game that asks a simple but compelling question: what if every opponent you beat could make your next run more dangerous?

Rather than asking players to grind ranked ladders or hunt down a local rival, *Poly Fighter* puts the spotlight on solo play. You climb through Heartville’s underground league, take on opponents in one-on-one duels, and steal their moves after victory. You can then swap, upgrade, and chain those abilities into wildly different fighter builds.

Defeat a rushdown specialist, and you might walk away with a pressure-heavy tool. Beat a zoning character, and abruptly your tanky brawler has projectiles. The result of this is a game built around experimentation, with HeartLoop promising thousands of possible move interactions along each run. You can pursue super-armoured tanks, relentless rushdown characters, zoning specialists, or projectile-heavy chaos machines... and then lose it all and start building again.

*Poly Fighter* offers both modern controls, and classic motion inputs, so newcomers can learn the fundamentals without immediately memorizing quarter-circles. Veterans, meanwhile, still get the deeper systems to dig into.

The Early Access version of this game includes 16 playable characters, a complete Discovery Loop, and the full technique-learning system. No ranked ladders or online competition here… The focus instead is expressive arcade combat, stylish animation, and a soundtrack designed to keep the pressure high.

Creative director [Osama Dorias](https://x.com/osamadorias?lang=en&ref=agamingnetwork.com) describes the game as a love letter to the fighting games and arcade classics the team grew up with. In a statement, he said Early Access is the next step in that journey and that HeartLoop is looking forward to see how players experiment with its builds.

That community-first approach makes sense for a debut studio. Early Access gives players the chance to help shape *Poly Fighter* while the team continues developing it, and the Steam page positions the release as a work in progress built around community feedback.

*Poly Fighter* is available now on Steam in Early Access. If you have ever wanted a fighting game that lets you steal your rival’s best move and turn it into the foundation of an absurd new build, this one should make it on your wishlist... or better yet, your library.
