Soulframe Opens Preludes Access to All Players, Showcases New Boss Fights and Customization at TennoCon 2025

At this weekend’s 10th annual TennoCon, Digital Extremes showcased the latest evolution of their free-to-play fantasy action RPG, Soulframe, with major announcements about access, gameplay, and future plans.
Players who sign up on the official Soulframe website by July 20 at 11:59 p.m. ET can secure an Envoy name and immediate access to Soulframe Preludes, the game’s ongoing pre-alpha build. Existing and future players can explore all current content and help shape the game leading up to its full launch. After the July 20 window closes, late sign-ups will join a queue for future access waves.
What’s New in Soulframe?
Creative Director Geoff Crookes shared how over a year of community testing in the Preludes phase has helped shape new combat systems, social features, and customization tools:
“We’ve put a huge amount of effort into improving combat fluidity, experimenting with player hubs, asynchronous messaging, and much more,” Crookes said. “We promise to keep trying new things outside our comfort zone and work with you to create something we’ve all been looking for.”
Key Highlights From TennoCon:
- New Enemy: Wazzard of Wastes
- Players will track this magical mini-boss deep in the Galvinar swamp, facing off with its thaumaturgic attacks. The Wazzard fight introduces a parry system that reflects projectiles at the foe, showcasing the evolving Magick combat mechanics.
- Omen Beast Boss Fight: Bromius
- A corrupted, three-headed beast lurking in the Neath’uns underbelly challenges players with dark whispers and environmental puzzles. This encounter takes place in an underground biome filled with tainted Sproutfolk and hazardous sap.
- Neath’uns Environment
- Players will navigate hazardous, puzzle-filled underground spaces with new visual storytelling and interactive challenges.
- Enhanced Character Customization
- The first eight player hairstyle options were revealed, with more cosmetic choices for Envoys still to come.
- Combat Progression Overhaul
- Inspired by medieval martial arts manuals, the revamped combat system lets players tailor offensive, defensive, or support abilities to their preferred style. This flexible progression enhances solo and party-based play with situational builds.
