# The Outlast Trials Season 7.1 Is Live… and the Air Is Not Your Friend

[*The Outlast Trials*](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1304930/The%5FOutlast%5FTrials/?ref=agamingnetwork.com) by [Red Barrels](https://redbarrelsgames.com/?ref=agamingnetwork.com) recently came out with Season 7.1, and Murkoff’s newest “therapy” involves pumping toxic gas into the maps while we scramble to shut off valves before we pass out... Because why make horror simple when you can make it suffocating, right?!

## Chemical Leak runs September 8 to October 6

From today through October 6 at 10:00 ET, the Chemical Leak event fills Trials with poisonous fog. Your job: find valves scattered around each area and crank them off before the air runs out.It’s frantic, chaotic, and perfect for a regular squad that loves turning clean runs into coughing messes.

## New Catalogue, two MK‑Challenges, and peak Murkoff snark

There’s a fresh Chemical Leak Catalogue to burn Event Tokens on while the event’s live. Spend them before the air clears… Murkoff notes they’re not responsible for “lost opportunities, respiratory distress, or poor planning.”

- Change the Program, which is propaganda‑themed. “You are the crier who knows that news does not have to be journalism; it only has to be new.”
- Fund the Campaign: Corruption and exploitation, it sounds like. “Money is the future of speech. Fund the campaign, and we will let you out.”

## Making Invasion and Escalation “feel better”

Invasion sees fairness, readability, and flow improvements in intense moments. Escalation also gets some stability upgrades, including progress saving if you disconnect mid‑run.

## Mods are OUT

Red Barrels is ending mod support to keep play fair. The upside: popular mod features like an FOV Slider and Toggle HUD are now baked directly into the Settings menu.

## Who’s jumping back in?

Season 7.1 is free on PC and consoles as of today for those who already own the game. If you’ve been meaning to drag your friends back into the Trials, this is the excuse. Just… maybe don’t breathe too hard.
