Ubisoft Launches XDefiant: A Free-to-Play Arcade Shooter
Ubisoft has officially launched XDefiant, a highly anticipated free-to-play, fast-paced arcade shooter developed by Ubisoft San Francisco. Players can now download and play XDefiant for free on their PC via Ubisoft Connect, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. To start playing, visit here
After extensive betas and open tests, XDefiant is now available for everyone, packed with exciting preseason content, including:
- 14 Maps: Inspired by other Ubisoft titles
- Five Factions: Each inspired by popular Ubisoft franchises
- 24 Weapons: Offering a variety of combat styles
- 44 Attachments: Customizing weapons to suit player preferences
- Five Devices: Adding strategic depth to gameplay
Players can immerse themselves in the action by choosing from five Ubisoft franchise-inspired factions: The Cleaners (The Division), Libertad (Far Cry 6), Echelon (Splinter Cell), DedSec (Watch Dogs 2), and Phantoms (Ghost Recon Phantoms). Each faction starts with one unlocked character, while additional characters can be unlocked by completing in-game missions.
XDefiant features two main game modes, Arena and Linear, offering a variety of match styles:
Arena-Style Matches:
- Domination: Teams compete to control three fixed zones.
- Occupy: Teams fight to control a single zone that moves periodically.
- HotShot: Players aim to get the most KOs, collecting tags from fallen foes or allies. The player with the most tags becomes the HotShot, gaining speed buffs but is marked on the map for everyone to see.
Linear Matches:
- Zone Control: The attacking team works to secure five zones in a progression across the map, while defenders try to stop them.
- Escort: The attacking team must deliver a package to its final destination, while defenders attempt to block their progress and push the package back.
Following the preseason, XDefiant will introduce seasonal content, including new factions, maps, weapons, and more. Each season promises to bring fresh challenges and updates to keep the gameplay dynamic and engaging.
