Riot Games Unveils Teamfight Tactics’ Biggest Update Yet in a Vibrant Cinematic Trailer Featuring Steve Aoki

If you've read some of my past work, you know I am SUPER into Riot Games and anything music related. Recently Riot Games has pulled back the curtain on Teamfight Tactics' most extensive update, introducing a musical extravaganza to the popular strategy game. The Remix Rumble update, set to launch on November 21, transforms the gaming experience with a fresh music-themed meta and an innovative, dynamic soundtrack that responds to real-time player decisions.

The animated trailer for Teamfight Tactics: Remix Rumble spotlights an impressive lineup of Riot's in-house bands, including K/DA, Pentakill, True Damage, and more. Adding to the excitement is the inclusion of acclaimed DJ/producer Steve Aoki, who has lent his remixing prowess to the game's soundtrack.

To get a taste of the musical magic, players can watch the launch music video for Teamfight Tactics: Remix Rumble, featuring the League of Legends - REMIX RUMBLE (Steve Aoki Remix) here.

Remix Rumble provided the perfect opportunity for Riot Games to collaborate with global phenomenon Steve Aoki. Aoki's influence extends beyond the soundtrack, as he contributed to the cinematic music, in-game cosmetics, and even a special Dim Mak merchandise line celebrating TFT's new set.

Kole Hicks, a composer at Riot Games, shared insights into the collaboration process: "The way we worked with Steve on the music for this video piece was pretty interesting. Initially I sent over stems for two songs in four of our different styles; Classical, Jazz, Metal, and Hip Hop. From that, Steve picked a few elements that resonated with him and he built the remix, which was based on the overall concept of having those different musical styles weave together, but still also sound great as a standalone remix track. Then from that remix I took Steve's stems and built, edited, and added a few additional elements to create a custom music track that would work with our video. So, specifically for the cinematic, Steve's remix utilizes our in-game music as a core through-line and then I used Steve's remix as a foundation for our video."

The cinematic trailer celebrates music's power to unite people, with iconic Champions such as Jhin, Yorick, and more familiar champions taking center stage, both in-game and off. Each character represents a specific musical genre, allowing players to create their dream supergroups with corresponding synergies.

Aoki's collaboration with the Teamfight Tactics art team extends to designing two unique cosmetics - Scratch the Little Legend and a "Get Caked" Boom. These additions bring humor and style to the game, with Scratch perfectly embodying the Remix Rumble vibe.

Players eager to showcase their excitement for Remix Rumble can indulge in the limited edition Dim Mak x Teamfight Tactics: Remix Rumble Collection. The collection features oversized Dim Mak "Action" Pins, graphic t-shirts, hoodies, and a luxurious satin bomber jacket inspired by Convergence's newest DJ - Scratch.

Teamfight Tactics: Remix Rumble is set to release on PC and mobile on November 21, 2023, with complete cross-play and cross-progression. The update includes a UX refresh on mobile, aligning the visual and UI experience with the PC version, and introducing official tablet support.

TFT Mobile will be released on November 22, 2023, local time for players in the Asia-Pacific region. Pre-registrations are still open on the App Store and Google Play Store, offering exclusive rewards for those who pre-register before launch. In 1996, Steve Aoki founded DIM MAK and developed it into an influential independent record label, music and fashion lifestyle brand. Responsible for launching the careers of seminal acts such as Bloc Party, The Bloody Beetroots, The Chainsmokers, M.I.A., Keys N Krates, The Kills, and countless others, the independently owned DIM MAK has consistently pushed new musical movements via its staunch DIY ethos. As a fashion leader, DIM MAK cultivates community by bringing together collaborators from all walks of life including the likes of Hiroshi Fujiwara,

Sanrio, One Piece, and Playboy, to name a few. With nostalgic references toward his youth, Aoki often includes anime, music, and games into the DIM MAK aesthetics. Aoki named his record label and subsequent fashion brand “DIM MAK” as a nod to Bruce Lee’s signature fight move: the touch of death. With a back catalog hundreds of records deep, a history of legendary live events, and a fully formed clothing line, DIM MAK continues its global mission of promoting boundary-pushing music and culture ‘by any means necessary.’
