Vampire Hunter: Nightrise Is Out Now on Steam… A Three-Hour Gothic Puzzle Hunt
Over the Moon Games just dropped Vampire Hunter: Nightrise on Steam, and it is a VERY specific kind of experience… short, contained, and built entirely around how quickly you can figure it out.
The pitch is “Castlevania meets Tunic,” but in practice, it feels closer to a puzzle box disguised as a vampire hunt. You are dropped into a shifting gothic castle with one goal… reach the vampire before nightfall. No keys, no hand-holding, just a space that slowly starts to make sense the more you pay attention.
In the castle, the fireplaces rotate, the bookshelves move, and hidden paths are there from the start… You just have to learn how to “see” them. The game leans hard into knowledge-as-progression game design, where understanding the layout is what actually pushes you forward.
Combat is described as simple but clever. The stake launcher lets you pin enemies, ignite shots through fire, and even turn the environment into a weapon, which helps tie everything back into the idea that the castle itself is part of the system.
It is also doing something interesting with “faith” as a resource you can spend for power, subtly shaping how things play out depending on how much you give in.
At around three hours, this is very much a single-sitting game. No filler, no padding… just a tight loop of exploration, experimentation, and small “aha” moments.
