Riders Republic Comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9

Ubisoft is bringing Riders Republic to Nintendo Switch 2 this holiday season.

Announced during the game’s fifth anniversary showcase, the massive open-world extreme sports title will launch worldwide on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9, 2026.

The new version gives Nintendo players access to Riders Republic’s sprawling outdoor playground, where players can race, ride, ski, snowboard, bike, and explore a world inspired by iconic U.S. national parks.

Riders Republic Celebrates Five Years

The Switch 2 announcement comes as Riders Republic celebrates its fifth anniversary.

Since launching in 2021, the game has welcomed more than 17 million players, with Ubisoft Ivory Tower continuing to support the experience through new sports, equipment, seasons, events, collaborations, and community content.

That long-term support has turned Riders Republic into one of Ubisoft’s most enduring multiplayer sports games.

Ride Anywhere on Nintendo Switch 2

Riders Republic combines several extreme sports inside one massive open world, allowing players to move freely between activities and explore at their own pace.

Players can take part in:

  • Mountain bike races
  • Snowboarding
  • Skiing
  • BMX
  • Wingsuit events
  • Rocket wings
  • Skateboarding and other sports added through post-launch content
  • Competitive multiplayer events
  • Massive races with dozens of riders

Its arrival on Switch 2 feels like a natural fit for players who want to take that open-world experience on the go.

Ubisoft is also introducing Nomad Mode on December 9, allowing players to access much of Riders Republic’s single-player content offline. Progress made offline will be synchronized once players reconnect.

Play Riders Republic for Free October 22 to 26

Before the Switch 2 release, Ubisoft is giving players another chance to try Riders Republic at no cost.

A Free Weekend will run from October 22 through October 26 across currently available platforms.

Players who decide to purchase the game afterward will be able to carry their progress forward. Ubisoft is also running anniversary sales across several storefronts during the celebration.

Anniversary Events and Rewards

The fifth anniversary celebration extends beyond the free weekend.

Ubisoft is bringing several of its franchises into Riders Republic through themed rewards, including:

  • Assassin’s Creed
  • Rayman
  • Just Dance
  • The Crew Motorfest
  • For Honor
  • Skull and Bones
  • Brawlhalla

The celebration also includes limited-time events, Twitch Drops, anniversary rewards, and an in-game concert featuring Belgian DJ and producer Henri PFR.

A Strong Fit for Switch 2

Riders Republic has always been built around freedom.

Players can leave structured events behind and simply explore its open world, jumping between snowy mountains, forests, canyons, and stunt parks while switching sports along the way.

That makes the Nintendo Switch 2 version particularly interesting. Portable play, combined with the new offline Nomad Mode, should make it much easier to drop into the Republic for a race or exploration session without being tied to a television or constant internet connection.

Final Thoughts

Five years after launch, Riders Republic is still expanding.

Its December 9 Nintendo Switch 2 release introduces the game to a new audience while Ubisoft continues supporting the existing community with events, anniversary rewards, new features, and ongoing seasonal content.

With more than 17 million players already having entered the Republic, the Switch 2 version gives Ubisoft another opportunity to grow that community while making its huge extreme sports playground more portable than ever.

For anyone curious about the game before then, the free weekend from October 22 to October 26 is the easiest place to start.
